America’s Doctor on Resveratrol
America’s Doctor is back, Mehmet Oz MD who makes frequent appearances on Oprah and has the line of best selling books You A User’s Manual. Apparently two months is long enough to no longer have to hang your head in shame after being outed for pimping for drug companies with his “Real Age” scheme, where they get you to enter personal medical information and then sell it to drug companies who then target vulnerable people with emails about their drugs. How that doesn’t qualify as a violation of medical privacy is beyond me.
Mehmet Oz MD cheers for the drug industry.
It is bad enough when he is cheering for drugs that might work sometimes, in some people. But now he is blowing his bully horn for complete rubbish. Namely, resveratrol. A supplement that originally came from wine skins that is now being touted as the cause of the “French paradox” and which can cure cancer and extend your life.
Dr Oz pimps resveratrol
“I take it too,” he cheeps. Of course he does. Why not take something useless if you can make so much money?
It is shameful that this guy passes himself off as an academic physician at a medical school and uses his history of publishing in journals to give himself credibility.
America’s quack now tells us that taking resveratrol can prolong your life based on studies in animals that it extends life by 35%. “Don’t you want to live to be 125?” he croons.
Tell me where it is shown that this stuff makes you live to be 125. How ridiculous.
The facts? Resveratrol has been shown to have anti-oxidant properties in animal studies. But other supplements with similar properties in the lab did not hold up in clinical trials. And resveratrol has been shown to promote breast cancer. Bottom line is noone has shown that it has anything to do with the known positive health effects of moderate wine consumption.
But that won’t stop America’s Doctor.

My God, Amy Philo, you sound like such a shrill, litigious
woman. And I wouldn’t ever sit on a couch and pour out my
heart to Doug Bremner. My idea of torture. Honestly, who goes to
him for any kind of therapy? Yikes. You two do make a fine pair.

I had a run in with a company over a return past 30 days, the
product was defective. Whipped out a little contracts law on them
and got my way. Is ACIX Resveratrol? If so tell them their product
is unreasonably dangerous and defective and you would kindly
appreciate a refund so that you don’t have to go looking for
a pro bono attorney who can go after them for damages for selling a
product fraudulently that may cause cancer.
I doubt if we were talking into an echo chamber that people
named JohnE, John Smith, Anonymous, etc. would be complaining about
me or Bremner. I hope I seem shrill or even litigious to drug
apologists. I would take it as a compliment. Unfortunately I never
got to sue Pfizer for my own reaction to Zoloft but litigation is
the least they deserve.
Eeeeekkkkk phytoestrogens. I am always suspicious of the latest
and greatest supplements out there. Especially if they come to my
inbox with an ad. But nevertheless I do take a lot of supplements
from whole foods / herbs. I just try to be really careful about
what they are.

Before You Take That Pill | Cellulite Creams — June 8,

I was totally taken in by the add for a FREE trial bottle of
ACIX advertised by Dr Oz. When a charge for $88.55 showed on by
credit card I was shocked. I sent the free bottle back (unopened)
but they will not give me a refund since it was past the 14 day
trail by 10 days. Can anyone help? My Credit card company can
not.
