postheadericon Effective Cellulite Massage Guidelines

Cellulite massages can be an effective option for women who wish to reduce the appearance of unattractive cellulite on their bodies. Cellulite is often the result of poor circulation and the lymphatic system’s inability to completely detoxify. Your body protects itself by storing these harmful toxins in fat cells away from functioning organs. The purpose of a lymphatic or cellulite massage is to stimulate fat cells, increase blood flow throughout and to help your body release excess water and toxins.Â

Â

Cellulite massages are not meant to stand alone as a cure all for cellulite. Proper nutrition, water consumption and regular exercise, as simple as it sounds are the best steps you can take to keep unwanted cellulite in check. Cellulite massages are a relaxing yet invigorating activity that can be used to help supplement your health and beauty regimen and reduce the appearance of cellulite on your legs, buttocks, hips and stomach. It is important to note that cellulite massages have the potential of improving skin tone only when done on a regular basis, and preferably by a trained professional.

Â

Though cellulite massages are most effective when done by a professional, let’s face it, most women don’t have $100-$400 to pay for a trained masseuse to give them their cellulite massages on a regular basis. With a few basic guidelines, you can give yourself a cellulite massage on your own time and in the comfort of your own home.Â

Â

Step 1 Selecting the Right Essential Oils for your Cellulite Massage

Many professional masseuses use and recommend peppermint and lavender essential oils during a cellulite massage. These oils have been known to stimulate fat cells and increase circulation throughout your body. Lavender is also a great hormone balancing oil. Rosemary and juniper oils can be used as they also help to increase circulation and reduce inflammation. Another great option is geranium. The essential oil of geranium increases lymph drainage and helps your body detoxify. Once you select you oil(s), mix a few drops with a couple of tablespoons of carrier oil, such as olive oil and use this blend throughout your massage.

Step 2

The Massage Strokes

As you begin your cellulite massage it is important to begin at the lowest point of your cellulite, and work up towards your heart. Start out gently kneading your skin in circular strokes, using your fingers, knuckles and/or palms of your hands. During the course of your cellulite massage, gradually increase the amount of pressure you apply as you work your fingers through your skin, getting deep through the affected areas while being careful not to injure yourself. Through the course of your massage you can alternate between deeper long strokes and circular motions. It is important to really work your fingers through your skin, as you pull it in various directions. End your massage with longer, more deliberate strokes. You may wish to use a rolling pin, massage or tennis balls, or even an electric massager during the course of your massage as well as your hands depending on your personal strength and endurance.Â

Step 3

Repeat for Success!

One and even two cellulite massages are not enough for you to see a remarkable difference in the tone of your skin. For cellulite massages to be effective, they must be done on a regular basis, preferably every other day and for at least 5 minutes at a time if you are doing them yourself! When cellulite massages are done by a trained professional, they do not need to be done as often as they are usually longer and deeper massages. Be patient with yourself, eat a low fat, high fiber diet and drink plenty of water. A healthy diet coupled with regular exercise and plenty of rest are the best choices you can make to help improve the way your body functions on the inside and looks on the outside. These lifestyle adjustments along with regular cellulite massages are guaranteed to help improve the way you look and feel!
