Exercises To Eliminate Cellulite
Cellulite most commonly appears on the hips, butt and thighs but can appear anywhere on the body. Cellulite looks like dimpled fat but it is simply regular body fat that pushes through weak connective tissue. The key to eliminating cellulite is to eliminate body fat. To accomplish this goal, you need to burn calories to eliminate body fat and build muscle in the areas you develop cellulite.
Lower Body Strength Training
The lower body is the most common area for cellulite to appear. Fortunately, there are a number of exercises that you can use to eliminate cellulite. Try to perform two to three sets of 12 to 15 repetitions for each exercise at least three times a week.
The squat targets your thighs, butt and hips. There are a few important things to remember before engaging in a squat. Be sure to keep your knee over your ankle to avoid letting it extend over your toe; when the knee extends over the toe you can cause injury. Also, be sure to keep your abs tightened to protect your back. To perform a squat, start standing up with your feet shoulder-width to hip-width apart. Slowly lower your body by bending your knees and stop once your thighs are parallel to the floor. Pause at the bottom of the movement for one count and return to the starting position. A squat looks similar to the act of sitting down onto a seat.
Lunges are another great lower back exercise that helps to eliminate cellulite. When performing lunges remember to only lunge as low as you can and to keep your back straight throughout the movement. Stand with both feet together and place your hands on your hips. Step about 2 to 3 feet forward with one foot, which will be referred to as the leading leg, and plant it firmly on the floor. Bend your leading leg and your back leg to lower your body straight downward into a lunge. Push off with your leading foot to return to the starting position. Repeat these series of movements and lead with the opposite leg.
Upper Body
The upper body might not be as common of an area for cellulite to appear but for some individuals it does happen. Perform strength training moves two to three days per week. For each exercise you choose, try to complete two to three sets of 12 to 15 repetitions.
Push-ups are the most recognized strength training move, but what many people don’t know is that push-ups can benefit your shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps and back. When performing a push-up remember to keep your entire body in a straight line and avoid letting your back sag. Start with your toes and hands on the floor. Position your hands under your shoulders or slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Place your feet together or up to 1 foot apart. Bend your elbows to lower your body as far as you can, hold for one count and then press your body back upward to the starting position.
Aerobic Exercise
Aerobic exercise is an essential building block for anyone who wishes to lose weight. During aerobic activity your body burns calories, which results in your body losing excess fat. If you have cellulite, aerobic activity will help to eliminate cellulite. When choosing an aerobic activity start with something you are familiar with or enjoy. This is vital to ensuring you will be able to follow through with your program to eliminate cellulite. According to Shape Fit, there are several aerobic activities that burn more calories per hour than any others, cross country skiing, running, walking, the elliptical trainer, step aerobics, rowing, swimming, bicycling and racquetball. Start with at least 10 to 15 minutes each day and make an ultimate goal to complete between 30 and 60 minutes of aerobic activity at least five days per week.
