It’s a common misnomer that since fat has more calories per gram than muscle, that fasting would burn fat first. The reality is that it’s exactly BECAUSE fat has more calories per gram that, when fasting or starving, the body tries to retain the fat because it’s a greater source of energy on a per gram basis.
One way to defeat this is to actually work the muscles. So, what I’ve done on other “fasts or diets” is do more weight training and less cardio because the muscles are worked, the body knows that it has to use them then and at some point in the future, so it uses the fat as the energy source.
Your reduction in cellulite is great and maybe the walks and cardio (however minimal) or doing the trick for you. Who knows? It may just be that you’ve found your key to the fat reduction (it sounds like you have).
But, my method has been to increase the weight training (not heavy, but enough to work the muscles fully, especially my legs) and I’ve gained tremendous results with various fasts and diets like the South Beach, Fat Flush, etc. Losses of the 2-3% in Body Fat area (starting at about 9-12% generally, so a pretty good percentage loss).
I’m doing the same thing with The Master Cleanse and I’m anxious to see the results. However, for me, it’s more about flushing out the toxins than getting ripped.
Nonetheless, a great result for you and I hope it continues. I just wanted to add my 2 cents. Hope it helps in some way.
